If you are called for jury duty, you will have many questions – from where you should report to what will happen during a trial if you are chosen to serve.

The Office of the Clerk of Superior Court is responsible for maintaining accurate jury records for Pike County. This office mails all Traverse and Grand Jury Summons to prospective jurors at least 4 weeks before service is required.

What To Do If You Receive a Jury Summons -Call, Complete, and
Submit

  • STEP 1Call Pike Co. Superior Court at 770-567-2000 EXT 3 and leave a daytime number where you can be reached.
  • STEP 2Complete the enclosed Juror Questionnaire.
  • STEP 3Submit a request (if applicable):
    If you need to be deferred or excused, complete the enclosed Request for Deferral/Excusal From Jury Duty form. This form lists the LEGAL reasons you may be deferred or excused. All excusal requests MUST be notarized except for #2 Age request.

Submission Deadline

All required forms MUST be submitted to Superior Court via email or in person at least 7 business days prior to your “Date to Appear.”

Failure to comply with a summons without justifiable cause may result in contempt of court and subject you to a fine,
a warrant for your arrest, and/or jail time.

Jury Call & Arrival Time

  • Arrival times are typically posted a few days before Jury Call.
  • If you provided your contact information, Superior Court will call to confirm your arrival time.
IF YOU DID NOT PROVIDE A PHONE NUMBER AS INSTRUCTED, A CLERK WILL NOT BE ABLE TO CONTACT YOU.

Day of Jury Service

  • Arrive 10–15 minutes BEFORE your assigned arrival time.
  • On time is considered late.

**Notice: Electronic Devices are not allowed in the courtrooms. Secure storage is available for $3 per device.

Legal Requirements

Jury service is a privilege and responsibility which you should accept with pride. Georgia law requires all persons summoned for jury duty to appear for service if they are:

  • At least 18 years of age
  • A citizen of the United States
  • A resident of Pike County

OCGA 15-12-10 states: “If any person is duly summoned to appear as a juror at court and neglects or refuses to appear, or if any juror absents himself or herself without leave of the court, said neglect, refusal, or absence may, after notice and hearing, be punished as contempt of court.”
